Different places offer distinct highlights for a stay in Lovech: the Covered Bridge and the old Varosha quarter, Lovech Fortress, historic houses and green spaces. You can plan your stay according to your interests in architecture, history, cityscapes or nature.

The Covered Bridge and Varosha

The Covered Bridge connects the newer part of Lovech with the Varosha architectural and historical reserve. It is unique of its kind on the Balkan Peninsula and serves as a covered shopping street. Inside is the Tourist Information Center, which provides information about Lovech and the surrounding region.

Varosha includes the old part of the city on the eastern bank of the Osam, shaped during the Bulgarian National Revival. As you walk through the quarter, you’ll encounter narrow streets, picturesque turns, passageways and shady corners. These details make Varosha a distinct highlight for anyone interested in the city’s historic urban fabric.

Stratesh Park has a direct connection to Varosha, which continues to the monument to Vasil Levski and Lovech Fortress. If you’d like to include these places in your route, you can use this connection as a reference when planning.

The Fortress and Historic Houses

Lovech Fortress stands on Hisarlaka Hill on the right bank of the Osam. It was part of a defensive system that protected the approaches to Tarnovo and Troyan Pass. Audio-visual presentations at the fortress are available on request. If you’re interested, check in advance about making a request.

Another way to explore the past is through Deli Hamam: the 16th-century bathhouse has been transformed into a virtual water attraction with multimedia effects and programs. This combines the building’s historic use with a presentation centered on water. Operating details may change, so it’s best to check in advance if you’re planning a visit.

The “Drasova and Rashova Houses” Ethnographic Complex comprises two houses in Lovech. The Drasova House depicts the life and household of a wealthy Lovech merchant through original items used by local families. The exhibition also includes vessels used for making and aging wine from the Lovech wine-growing region. These everyday objects offer another perspective on local history.

Green Spaces and Nature

Stratesh Park features a lake, a rose garden and an alpine garden, as well as panoramic views in every direction. These park features offer a different focus from the bridge, fortress and historic houses.

Nearby, Devetashka Cave is designated a natural monument. The route to the cave from the Lovech–Devetaki road includes an approximately 3 km eco-trail. Trail conditions and access may change; check them before setting out.
