Kableshkovo: Archaeology, Circular Trail and Wine
Accommodation in Kableshkovo
Kableshkovo offers several clearly distinct themes to consider when planning a stay: archaeological finds in the nearby area, local history, a circular trail over the easternmost hills of the Aitos Mountains, and wineries in the surrounding area. If you are looking for a hotel in Kableshkovo, you can decide in advance whether cultural history, outdoor activity, or wine should shape your stay.
Archaeological traces near Kableshkovo
Near Kableshkovo lies “Kozareva Mogila,” an archaeological settlement mound and necropolis. A Late Eneolithic pottery workshop was investigated there. An archaeological study published in 2017 mentions a large kiln, about 60 restored vessels, pottery-making tools, and fragments of anthropomorphic figurines. The finds therefore range from workshop equipment to vessels and figurative fragments; pottery production is at the heart of this archaeological topic. The visitor presentation may evolve over time. Check its current form before visiting.
Local history marked by two dates
On April 20, 2022, a monument to Todor Kableshkov was unveiled in Kableshkovo. The community center “Atanas Manchev” offers a glimpse into another period: it was founded in 1920 in what was then the village of Dautliy to promote knowledge and culture. The dates belong to different stories: 1920 marks the founding of the community center, while 2022 marks the unveiling of the monument. Together, they offer insight into two aspects of local history—a cultural institution and a monument to a historical figure.
Circular trail over the hills of the Aitos Mountains
A 10 km circular trail starts and ends in Kableshkovo and follows the ridge of the easternmost hills of the Aitos Mountains. Its length and the fact that both endpoints are in the town give you concrete points of reference if the route is to be an important part of your stay.
A separate historical point of interest is the nearby peak “Biberna.” According to tradition, it is associated with Tsar Simeon observing and directing the Battle of Achelous on August 20, 917. This is a different kind of historical account from the archaeological finds at “Kozareva Mogila”: here, the emphasis is on the traditional connection to a historical event, while there, it is on an investigated pottery workshop and its finds.
Wineries and dated event notices

The “Trifon Zarezan” festival of vine growers and winemakers was scheduled to take place in Kableshkovo on February 14, 2024. The Festival of Folk Instrumentalists and Folk Singing, “Da izleesh dushata si s muzika…,” was announced for September 2024 in memory of Petko Dachev. Since both dates are in 2024, check the event dates for your travel period if a festival will influence your choice of dates.
