Razlog: Discover nature, culture and hotels
Accommodation in Razlog
Razlog is the largest town in Razlog Municipality. The different themes offer guidance for choosing the focus of your stay according to your own interests.
Nature and trails
The Bayuvi Dupki section of Pirin National Park includes parts of Razlog Municipality. This section has pure stands of Balkan-endemic white pine as well as beech forests. Both forest types offer nature enthusiasts a specific botanical point of reference for the region.
The Samodivska Trail starts in Bachevo, is 15 kilometres long and leads to the Rusaliite area at an altitude of 2,300 metres. The Rila Primrose Trail has a different focus: visitors can learn about a plant found exclusively in the Rila Mountains. The two trails differ according to what matters most to you: the Samodivska Trail has a specified length and destination area, while the Rila Primrose Trail offers information about a plant exclusive to the Rila Mountains.
Museums, history and traditions
The Nikola Parapunov House is part of the Historical Museum Razlog and is a cultural monument of national importance. The Historical Museum Razlog preserves more than 5,000 exhibits from different periods. This places a single, specifically named cultural monument alongside a collection spanning a broad range of historical periods as two distinct cultural points of reference.
The Ethnographic and Historical Museum in Banya displays pottery fragments from the 11th century BC. A dedicated section covers the entire linen-making cycle. Pottery and linen offer two different perspectives: one focuses on early material finds, the other on a complete production process.
The Church of Saints Theodore Tyron and Theodore Stratilat in Dobarsko dates from 1614. In Eleshnitsa, a constructed path leads to the St. George bas-relief. The Kukeri celebration in Eleshnitsa is another specific cultural point of reference: it takes place on the first day after Easter and is attended by many masked women.
The Banitsa Festival in Razlog is dedicated to one of Bulgaria’s most traditional dishes: banitsa.
Thermal waters and leisure
The thermal spring in Banya reaches 54 °C and is considered suitable for balneotherapy. The thermal spring in Bachevo is considered suitable for use in swimming pools. The two springs therefore serve different purposes: balneotherapy in Banya and swimming pool use in Bachevo.
The Banya Water Attraction features a hand-operated water pump and a triangular wooden trough. The facility is a play area for children of all ages. The pump and trough give the area specific, easily distinguishable features.
