Discover Lenzing
Accommodation in Lenzing
Lenzing combines a marked network of sports and leisure trails with historic churches, the KUZ cultural centre and the WengermĂĽhle bathing facility. When planning your stay, you can first decide whether you want to focus on outdoor activities, architectural and cultural history, or music and swimming.
Trails and activities
Since early 2019, Lenzing has had a marked network of sports and leisure trails measuring about 24 kilometres in total. It was designed as a recreational area for families, hikers and athletes. The marked trails have two different starting points; the approximate length refers to the network, not necessarily to a single route. So, when planning, the starting point for your chosen trail is a separate point of reference. Some sections may be weather-dependent. Take the weather into account when planning your day and check conditions for the section you intend to take before setting out. This will help you decide whether to focus your stay primarily on hiking and sports or on other interests.
Churches and architectural history
St Andrew’s Church, also known as Schimmelkirche, is located in the district of Pichlwang, right on the Attersee federal road, and is Lenzing’s oldest cultural monument. In its present form, it was reconsecrated in 1508. The window reveals contain Gothic frescoes depicting St Andrew, the Madonna and Child, and John the Evangelist.
The Church of the Holy Spirit offers a different historical reference point: it was built to plans by Linz architect Hans Aigner and consecrated on 30 September 1962. Compared with St Andrew’s Church, it represents a later period: the present form of the former is associated with its reconsecration in 1508, while the latter has a named architect and consecration date. This chronological comparison places the two churches in distinct chapters of Lenzing’s architectural history and gives your cultural itinerary two specific periods as points of reference.
KUZ cultural centre
The Lenzing cultural centre, known as the “KUZ”, is distinguished by its futuristic architecture and hosts musical events ranging from classical to modern music. Architecture and a broad musical spectrum come together here, while the churches offer different points of interest in their architectural history and frescoes. Specific programmes change over time. If a musical event is important to your stay, check the relevant event dates before planning around it.
WengermĂĽhle bathing facility
The WengermĂĽhle bathing facility is a swimming and leisure complex in Lenzing. Swimming conditions can vary by season, so the time of year is particularly relevant if this is a priority. Check the conditions before your visit if you plan to swim.
Getting here and finding your way
Lenzing railway station provides a boarding and alighting point for the Lenzing AG, Gallaberg and Alt Lenzing areas. These three names give you specific reference points when planning your journey if one of these areas is relevant. Check the current timetable for a specific journey.
