Mieming combines hiking and cycling trails with seasonal activities by the water and several historic cultural sites. When planning your trip, you can focus on different things: specific routes, art and architectural history, or the seasonal use of swimming and ice-skating facilities. You can also explore the Stöttlalm via a variety of tours.

Hiking trails and their landmarks

The circular hike across the Mieming Plateau passes the swimming lake in Untermieming and the Lärchenwiese nature reserve. These two points help you get your bearings along the route: a body of water for swimming lies alongside a protected natural area. The route to Fiechter Köpfl starts at the car park by the swimming lake in Untermieming. The route via the Plateaublick viewpoint is recommended for the return journey. If you plan to start at this car park, check the current parking situation in advance, as parking conditions may change.

The easy hike to the Stöttlalm is 4 km long. Another trail, the golf circular trail from the Lehnbach car park in Obermieming, leads directly to the Stöttlalm. The routes can therefore be compared based on different features: the hike has a stated length and difficulty level, while the circular trail has a stated starting point. Trail conditions on the 4 km hike may change seasonally; access conditions for the golf circular trail may also change. Check the current situation before setting out. The Stöttlalm has a cosy alpine parlour and a sun terrace serving snacks and hearty alpine specialities. Opening hours may vary seasonally; before planning a stop, check whether the alpine hut will be open when you visit.

Cycling, golf and seasonal destinations

The Mieming cycle path (23) runs from Telfs in the Inn Valley via Wildermieming, Mieming and Obsteig to Arzkasten. The sequence of towns shows that the route connects several places beyond Mieming and ends in Arzkasten. The Mieminger Plateau Golf Park, a 27-hole course, offers a separate sporting activity.

In summer, the Mieming swimming lake recreation centre is a popular destination for an outing. During the colder months, Lake Mieming becomes an ice-skating rink. Swimming facilities, as well as ice conditions and operations at Lake Mieming, may vary; check the current conditions before your visit. This lets you plan swimming or ice-skating around the season and the conditions at the time.

Churches, art and cultural events

St. George’s Church in Obermieming was built in the second half of the 17th century. The altarpiece is by Josef Schöpf from Telfs; the ceiling paintings were painted by Franz Plattner. They include depictions of St. Roch, St. Wendelin and St. Gertraud. In Untermieming, the parish church of the Assumption of Mary is a listed building.

The Kulturstadl is a listed building dating from the 18th century and has hosted concerts, readings and small theatre productions since 2015. The Kunst-Werk-Raum Mesnerhaus in Untermieming regularly presents exhibitions and other cultural events. If you wish to attend a specific event, check the dates in advance.

Barwies also offers points of interest in its cultural history: the former branch church was built in the Baroque style in 1620. In 1967, the church in Barwies was elevated to parish church status. The annual Holy Trinity procession takes place there on Trinity Sunday. The building’s history, the church’s development and a recurring local tradition thus offer different ways to explore the area’s cultural history.
