Feistritztal Railway and cycle path

Birkfeld is the starting point of the Feistritztal Railway. In summer, it runs nostalgic steam-hauled train journeys; the U44 Club also takes part in these journeys. The Feistritztal cycle path runs along the disused section of the Feistritztal Railway towards Ratten. Hiking with a connection to the Edlseers

The Edlseer Hoamat hiking trail is a circular route of about 12.1 kilometres that starts in Birkfeld, in the Joglland – Waldheimat region. It was created in honour of the Edlseers, who are from the area. Along the trail, you will find various information stations about the band. The route therefore has a clear theme: the information along the way highlights the trail’s connection to the Edlseers. Its length, circular format and theme give you specific points of comparison with a train or cycling activity.

Plan swimming and visits

Birkfeld’s outdoor adventure pool uses a solar system to ensure optimal water temperatures for swimming. If swimming is a factor in choosing your destination, it offers a specific activity alongside the railway, cycle path and hiking trail.

From 2026, the Felber chocolate manufactory will offer shop sales only; guided tours can be arranged by phone. When planning, therefore, consider whether you would like to visit the shop or arrange a guided tour. If you are interested in a tour, arrange it by phone.
