Filzmoos offers you a range of reasons to stay: activities in the ski area and on the cross-country ski trail, marked hiking trails, cycling routes, and religious and regional culture. Which of these interests shapes your trip can help you choose a hotel. The options range from pistes and cross-country skiing to long-distance hiking trails and pilgrimage traditions.

Winter between pistes, the Funslope and the cross-country ski trail

The Filzmoos ski area is part of the Salzburger Sportwelt in Ski amadé and offers around 20 kilometres of pistes in impressive mountain scenery. It operates seasonally; if you are planning your stay around skiing, check the operating conditions for your travel dates. At the sixpack Mooslehen lift is the “filZOO” Funslope: about one kilometre long, it combines exercise, play and skiing.

For cross-country skiing, the 16-kilometre-high Rossbrand high-altitude trail offers panoramic views. The winter activities each have their own character: the ski area is all about pistes, the Funslope combines skiing with playful features, and the high-altitude trail offers a dedicated cross-country skiing option. Which one suits your stay depends on the activity you want to focus on.

Hiking trails and cycling routes

Filzmoos has more than 250 kilometres of marked hiking trails. Four long-distance hiking trails in Filzmoos are Rund um die Bischofsmütze, the Dachstein Circular Hiking Trail, the Salzburger Almenweg and the “Leonhardsweg” pilgrimage trail. Their names give you different points of reference for planning; they are part of the wider network of marked hiking trails.

There is also a clearly defined range of options for mountain biking and e-mountain biking: BIKEDORF Filzmoos has 12 routes covering more than 150 kilometres in total, with all levels of difficulty. Hiking and cycling each have their own dedicated routes. To make your choice, you can first decide on an activity, then consider the route details that suit it.

Rossbrand and getting around the village

Rossbrand offers a mountain panorama with 360-degree views. From there, you can see the Dachstein and more than 150 Alpine peaks, all the way to the Hohe Tauern. The high-altitude trail is also on Rossbrand, combining cross-country skiing with panoramic views. The Papageno gondola lift starts right in the centre of Filzmoos.

Pilgrimage traditions and regional themes

The Filzmoos Child is a Late Gothic devotional image. For centuries, pilgrims have come to see it from near and far. Filzmoos parish church is dedicated to the Apostles Peter and Paul. For travellers interested in religious tradition, this means both the devotional image with its long pilgrimage history and the dedication of the parish church are worth noting.

The themed trails share information about plants, trees and stones, as well as the history of the people of this region. They add themed content to the hiking options. The water temperature in all swimming pools at Filzmoos Leisure Park is 30°C. If you are planning a visit, check current visitor information in advance.
