If you’re looking for a hotel for a trip to Parryville, the landscape and local activities can help you decide what to focus on during your stay. An important landmark is Parry Beach Reserve, accessible via Parry Road in the town of Parryville. The reserve provides public access to the Southern Ocean, beaches and Parry Inlet. These coastal areas offer different starting points for planning your trip. Access arrangements and reserve conditions can change; check them before your visit.

Trails, Coast and History

At Parry Beach, walking and hiking trails run between the campground, beach tracks, the inlet, William Bay and the Bibbulmun Track. The trail network ranges from beach sections to connections with longer-distance hiking destinations. Point Hillier Cairn is another useful landmark when planning a specific outing: it is 1.2 km from Parry Beach and lies on a walking trail. The cairn is of scientific and historical significance. Trail conditions can change.

The area’s settlement history can also be seen in its surviving buildings. A wooden boathouse and two other cottages remain from the original settlement of Parry’s Beach. The original settlement was dismantled sometime in the last decade of the 20th century. The cottages and boathouse offer a distinct perspective on the area’s history alongside the cairn.

Activities on the Water and at the Beach

Recreational fishing by boat and from shore is possible at Parry Beach year-round. Conditions and regulations can change. Surfing is popular near the mouth of the inlet, at William Bay Beach and around the reef areas to the south; surf conditions vary. Canoeing and kayaking take place in Parry Inlet and the Southern Ocean at Parry Beach. Shallow reef areas offer opportunities for snorkelling, while diving takes place in deeper water. Activities therefore vary both by the stretch of coast you choose and by the kind of experience you’re looking for.

Recreational four-wheel-drive trips are common along the beach, running from Parry Beach to Parry Inlet and William Bay Beach when the inlet bar is closed. This condition is part of the described route and should be taken into account when planning. The beach is also used by many members of the local community for exercise and recreational horse riding.
