Nannup is located on the banks of the Blackwood River. There are several reasons to visit: an annual festival, cycling and walking routes, and places to swim or reflect quietly. When planning your trip, you can start by choosing between a set event date and activities whose scope can be estimated based on a distance or stated duration. These differences provide a concrete starting point for finding a suitable time to travel.

Music and gardens throughout the year

The Nannup Music Festival takes place every year over the long weekend in March, against the backdrop of Nannup’s bushland and the Blackwood River. The event has been running since 1990. The Nannup Flower and Garden Festival begins every year on the second weekend in August and lasts for ten days over two weekends. Its venues are spread throughout the Nannup area.

This gives you two clearly separate periods to choose from: the long weekend in March and a ten-day festival beginning on the second weekend in August.

Mountain biking and walking

Nannup Tank 7 Mountain Bike Park offers flowing descents, technical features and progressively challenging trails. Nannup is also the halfway point on the Munda Biddi Trail. Secure bike lockers have been installed at key locations in Nannup for trail users. Individual trails may change; check current trail conditions before setting out.

The Old Timberline and Sidings Rail Trails form a 37-kilometre Timberline Loop. It is suitable for a half-day mountain bike ride or a two-day walk. This means there are two different time requirements for the same loop: half a day by mountain bike or two days on foot. While the riding style is the main feature of Nannup Tank 7 Mountain Bike Park, you can plan the loop based on its distance and stated duration. Route conditions and possible closures may change; check before your trip.

By the river and at places of remembrance

There is a natural pool at St John Brook where visitors can swim. This offers another way to plan your day alongside the cycling and walking routes. Nannup is located on the Blackwood River, which also provides the setting for the annual Music Festival.

The Avenue of Honour in Nannup is a living memorial to people from the town who served their country in armed conflicts and wars. Visitors can walk along the avenue and reflect on those who did not return, as well as the effects of war on rural communities. The walk connects remembrance of individuals with a view of the impact of war on life in rural communities.

The annual event dates and the different route options can therefore serve as concrete starting points for your trip.
