Toolleen is shaped by several wine producers, from a family-run boutique winery to handcrafted Shiraz. For a wine-focused stay, it’s worth considering two things: the wines and winemaking methods that distinguish each producer, and the visiting arrangements for their cellar doors. If you’re looking for hotels in Toolleen, this focus can help you shape the purpose of your trip.

Wineries and wine profiles

Pook Road is a family-run boutique winery on the eastern slopes of Mt Pleasant in Toolleen. Wines offered by Pook Road include Heathcote Shiraz, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Sémillon and Cabernet; the range may change. Peregrine Ridge is also a boutique winery, specialising in handcrafted Shiraz and Sparkling Shiraz.

At Heathcote II, the winemaking process is also in focus: Peder and Lionel prune the vines by hand, hand-pick the grapes and press them. They employ seasonal workers during harvest. Domaine Asmara produces a small selection of premium red and white wines. Heathcote II is located at 290 Cornella-Toolleen Road in Toolleen; Peregrine Ridge is at 404 Cornella-Toolleen Road in Toolleen.
