Pyramid Hill combines the granite hill that gives the town its name with trails around the hill, a weekly parkrun event and historic points of interest. You can shape your stay around different interests: compare trail lengths, plan for a 5 km event or explore local history through specific points of interest. For walks, both the route and destination matter; when planning a hike, the overall range from easy to more challenging is also relevant.

Hiking at Pyramid Hill

The namesake Pyramid Hill is a granite hill that rises 187 m above sea level. A trail runs around the foot of the hill and offers a 600 m return walk to the saddle; the 600 m therefore covers the entire return distance. The Pyramid Hill Summit Walk is a safe and attractive 2 km trail at the foot of the hill. The Summit Walk connects to an existing 3 km trail from the town of Pyramid Hill. In a direct comparison of lengths, the 600 m trail is shorter than the 2 km and 3 km distances. The Summit Walk connects to the 3 km town trail; the 600 m trail leads to the saddle. Walking trails in Pyramid Hill and its surroundings range from easy to more challenging. Check local trail conditions before setting out on a hike.

parkrun as an event option

The Pyramid Hill Golf Trail parkrun is a free, weekly 5 km event. You can walk, jog or run; volunteering and spectating are also options. The event differs from the walking trails in its weekly format and fixed 5 km distance, while you can choose between active participation and spectating. If you are planning a specific visit, check the current event page in advance and factor the date into your stay plans.

History in the town and region

In the Pyramid Hill business district, the railway precinct is listed on the Victorian Heritage Register. Visitors can also see a memorial stone to Major Sir Thomas Mitchell in Pyramid Hill. The Pyramid Hill and District Historical Society preserves and promotes the history of Bald Rock, Mincha, Pyramid Hill, Durham Ox, Mincha West, Sylvaterre, Loddon Vale, Mologa, Macorna, Terrick Terrick and Yarrawalla. Together, these historic themes illustrate two scales: specific points of interest in Pyramid Hill and the history of several other places and districts preserved and promoted by the society.
