Nature and local history
Birdlife can be observed at Badger Weir. In autumn and winter, mushrooms also appear there, adding a seasonal dimension to nature observation. The name Badger Creek is said to date back to early settlers who mistakenly thought the wombats commonly found in the area were badgers.
Badger Creek Blueberry Winery
The winery produces several blueberry wines: blueberry sparkling wine made using the traditional bottle-fermentation method, still blueberry wine, blueberry fortified wine, barrel-aged blueberry fortified wine and blueberry-style Moscato. The range therefore includes sparkling, still and fortified wines; bottle fermentation is specified for the sparkling wine, and barrel ageing for one of the fortified wine varieties. The product range may change.
Badger Creek Blueberry Winery is also home to St Ronan's Cider; tastings of this award-winning cider are available. Check current availability before your visit. Tasting paddles include four 80 ml serves: two ciders and two blueberry wines. The tasting area also offers wines and ciders, snack and cheese platters, small seasonal dishes and cocktails with a view.
Frozen berries are available year-round while stocks last. Fresh, farm-grown fruit is sold in summer and autumn. The tasting area also has homemade preserves made from berries and other fruit grown and harvested on the farm; availability may vary.
