Beach and Northern Beaches Leisure Trail

Clifton Beach is an unspoilt sandy beach. As a landscape feature, it gives the area a coastal character; the following details about the trail and facilities, by contrast, refer to specific sections or amenities.

A section of the Northern Beaches Leisure Trail in Clifton Beach is a shared path, 460 metres long and three metres wide. A bridge crosses Deep Creek; this section of the trail connects Clifton Beach and Kewarra Beach.

This makes it easy to distinguish the features when choosing a location: the beach is defined by its landscape, while the trail is defined by its measured length and width, the crossing over Deep Creek and the link between two named places. These are different perspectives on Clifton Beach, not the same type of leisure activity.

Designated off-leash areas for dogs

Part of the parkland on Eddy Street is designated as an off-leash area for dogs. It lies between Eddy Street and the rear of the houses in Escape Close. From the houses on Eddy Street, the area extends 50 metres east towards Saxon Street.

At the beach, another designated off-leash area begins at the northern end of Upolu Esplanade and runs towards Palm Cove. It ends 150 metres south of Veiers Road in Palm Cove.

The southern off-leash area extends from the southern end of Arlington Esplanade to a point north of Kewarra Street in Kewarra Beach. The beach designations therefore cover both a northern and a southern section.

One practical difference is that one designation applies to parkland, while the other two apply to beach sections. When planning, you can therefore first consider which type of area you want, then its boundary points. Check the local rules before your visit, as they may change.

BMX track and renewed bike parks

A BMX track is located on Evergreen Street, by the Captain Cook Highway. Bike parks in Evergreen Park in Clifton Beach have been renewed. The two details can be distinguished by location: Evergreen Street and the highway are the reference points for the BMX track, while the renewed bike parks are in Evergreen Park. This lets you connect an interest in BMX with the specifically named location without confusing the park upgrades with the track.
