Discover Beaudesert: Museum, Culture and Leisure
Accommodation in Beaudesert
Explore Beaudesert through its range of visitor experiences: regional history, arts and crafts, architecture, and leisure. To plan your visit, you can first decide whether you are most interested in museum collections, cultural venues, or outdoor activities. Each offering has its own focus and gives you different ways to shape your stay.
Museum and Regional History
The Beaudesert Historical Museum and Information Centre is located in Jubilee Park, near the library and the public swimming pool. The Beaudesert Historical Museum collection includes more than 10,000 artefacts relating to the industrial and everyday history of the Scenic Rim region. The museum is also one of the largest museums in a small town in Queensland. It offers a look not just at individual historical objects, but at different aspects of regional life and work.
The museum includes Pioneer Cottage, an authentic slab hut built in 1875. The collection and cottage offer different ways to explore history: the artefacts cover industrial and everyday history, while the cottage is a tangible historic building. If you are planning a visit, check the current opening hours in advance, as they may change.
Architecture, Arts and Crafts, and Exhibitions
St Mary's Catholic Church on Bromelton Street was blessed and opened on 15 September 1907. The richly ornamented timber church is designed in the Carpenter Gothic style. Comparing it with Pioneer Cottage reveals two distinct timber building styles: the church in the Carpenter Gothic style and the hut built using the slab construction method. Each is a subject in its own right for anyone interested in architectural history.
North of town, the Beaudesert Community Arts and Information Centre sells local art, pottery, and handicrafts. You can also enjoy Devonshire tea there. Its offerings thus combine arts and crafts with a place to stop for refreshments. The Centre Beaudesert has a different cultural focus: it offers spaces for exhibitions as well as fun and educational school holiday programs. The two centres differ in their stated offerings—arts and crafts and Devonshire tea at one, exhibitions and holiday programs at the other.
Swimming and Outdoor Activities
Beaudesert Pool has a heated 50-metre swimming pool. It also has a wading pool with a splash park for toddlers. Toddlers must be supervised by their parents. If you are planning a visit with young children, keep this supervision requirement in mind.
The Jeune Park Parkrun takes place every Saturday at 7 am in Jeune Park on Tom Enright Drive. Its 5 km course runs entirely on paths. As event details may change, check the current schedule before taking part. Beaudesert Golf Course offers another clearly defined leisure option, with 18 holes. Parkrun and golf represent different sporting activities: the Parkrun has a stated course and regular time, while golf is described by the number of holes.
