Lê Chân: Cultural Monuments and Memorial Sites
Accommodation in Lê Chân
If you are looking for cultural experiences in Lê Chân, you will find temples, historic communal houses, and places of remembrance. These sites highlight different aspects of the area: stone sculptures and religious architecture tell of the district’s cultural heritage, as does the memory of the female general Lê Chân. Hồ Sen Sports Park adds another focus: outdoor leisure and sports areas. You can plan your trip around whether you are particularly interested in history, architecture, or relaxation.
Cultural Monuments and Religious Architecture
Đền Nghè is a historical and cultural monument in An Biên Ward, Quận Lê Chân, dedicated to the female general Lê Chân. Its preserved heritage includes valuable stone sculptures. These include a large stone stele from the Nguyễn dynasty, inscribed with the general’s biography. Đền Nghè and Đình An Biên are also linked by the memory of Lê Chân, but in different ways: memorial events are held every year at Đình An Biên, including celebrations of her birthday, her victory, and the anniversary of her death.
Đình An Biên is located at 50/170 Hai Bà Trưng Street in An Biên Ward. Its precise address helps distinguish this site from the district’s other landmarks. At Đền Nghè, the focus is on the historic monument and its stonework; at Đình An Biên, the annual commemorative tradition is a defining feature of the site.
The communal houses also showcase different facets of local architecture. Đình Hàng Kênh was designated a nationally significant historical and architectural-artistic monument in 1962. It is known for its considerable architectural and sculptural value. Đình Dư Hàng is located in the former area of Dư Hàng Kênh, which is now part of Quận Lê Chân in Hải Phòng. It preserves the architecture and decorative art of an old Vietnamese village communal house, associated with the 18th century and the late 19th century.
Chùa Dư Hàng, also known as Phúc Lâm tự, offers a different architectural and religious perspective. The pagoda is located in Hồ Nam Ward and comprises a monastic complex with a seven-bay Buddha hall and a three-story bell tower. Historically, it is associated with masters of the Trúc Lâm Zen school, which was itself linked to Trần Nhân Tông. The buildings and this tradition make the site a distinct point of interest alongside the communal houses and memorial sites.
An initiative to present historical and cultural monuments digitally was launched at Đình Hàng Kênh in 2023. A volunteer youth team was also formed to share the site’s historical and cultural values. This adds a documented cultural-outreach initiative from that year to the communal house’s architectural significance.
Commemorative Events and Outdoor Recreation
Events honoring Lê Chân are also part of the district’s cultural landscape. The square with the general’s monument was one of the venues for the traditional Lê Chân Festival from March 6 to 8, 2025. The program for the 2026 Lê Chân Festival included a Thủy Tiên flower competition at Đền Nghè. Both details refer to specific past festival programs; the annual commemorative events at Đình An Biên are a separate tradition.
Hồ Sen Sports Park offers a different focus for planning your trip. Its cultural, sports, leisure, and recreation facilities include a synthetic-turf football pitch, walking paths, outdoor fitness equipment, trees, and grassy areas. In 2026, the park hosted a football tournament for young people and children in Lê Chân. If you are interested in sports and outdoor spaces as well as monuments during your trip, the park offers a clear contrast with the historic sites.
The Chợ quê area at the 2026 Lê Chân Festival featured food stalls; there were also street food stalls around the venue. As an infrastructure milestone, the Hồ Sen–Cầu Rào 2 road was completed and opened to traffic in early 2021.
These sites offer different points of interest.
