Temple architecture, waterfalls, reservoir shores and viewpoints give Sisaket its varied character. Cultural sites tell stories of religious motifs and the history of Si Sa Ket Province; elsewhere, rock formations, water and sweeping landscapes take centre stage. If you’re looking for a hotel in Sisaket, it helps to first consider which of these sides you want your trip to focus on.

Temple architecture, cave imagery and local history

Wat Pa Sri Mongkol Rattanaram includes Tham Naga Thibodi, a cave replica whose design is based on the Naga legend. Artificial stalactite formations and depictions of nine Naga lines define the cave. The Maharat Museum is on the third floor of the main chedi in the same temple complex. It features the royal duties and activities of Thai kings, as well as the local history of Si Sa Ket Province.

Another architectural site is Wat Phra That Suphan Hong, also called Wat Ban Wan. The temple has an ubosot built on an artificial Suphan Hong ship. The building is 5 metres wide and 13.60 metres long. This unusual combination of temple architecture and a ship’s form sets the site apart from the cave motifs at Wat Pa Sri Mongkol Rattanaram.

The old town of Si Sa Ket, formerly called Muang Kukhan, also provides historical context. It was located near Ban Prasat Si Liam Dong Lamduan in what is now Tambon Duan Yai, Amphoe Wang Hin.

Waterfalls, rock formations and viewpoints

Sida Waterfall is a small natural waterfall in Ban Ta Nuat, Tambon Rung, Amphoe Kantharalak, Si Sa Ket Province. Its landscape includes a gorge and a natural rock surface. Here, the rock formations and the course of the waterfall take centre stage.

Tad Hin Waterfall is also known as Kaeng Tad Hin or Tad Huai Thip. This natural attraction is a swimming spot near the Phra Viharn Mountains, where clear water flows over broad rock surfaces. The swimming spot and rock formations give it a different character from the small Sida Waterfall and its gorge.

Pha Phaya Goopree is in the Phanom Dong Rak Mountains, near the Thai-Cambodian border at Chong Sa-Ngam. The viewpoint features a large kouprey statue and a stone garden more than 170 million years old.

Suksamran Beach is a lakeside attraction on the Huai Samran Reservoir. Its atmosphere is described as peaceful and reminiscent of the sea; in the morning, mist hangs over the water. If you’re interested in waterscapes, you can compare this scene with the river and rock formations at the waterfalls.

Pha Mor E Deang is a viewpoint overlooking a sea of mist surrounded by mountains. Access conditions may vary; check them before your visit. Huay Wang Yai Waterfall is in the Phanom Dong Rak Wildlife Sanctuary, surrounded by rare tree species, and flows year-round. These details distinguish it from the other waterfall descriptions in Sisaket.

Ra Si Klai Dam is a large concrete dam that holds back the Mun River between Ban Huay and Ban Don.
