When looking for a hotel in Mueang Rayong District, it helps to first narrow down the focus of your stay. The district has religious attractions, historic city sights, beaches and natural areas. Each place has a distinct theme, from an ancient temple and a Buddha image to city history, coastal activities and mangroves.

Temples and Religious History

Wat Pa Pradu is an ancient temple from the Ayutthaya period. Its reclining Buddha is 11.95 metres long and lies on its left side. Its size and posture give the image a distinctive appearance. Wat Khot Thimtharam is considered the oldest temple in Rayong Province and was established in Buddhist Era 2007. The same temple houses the more than 500-year-old image of Luang Pho Khao, revered by Rayong residents.

The King Taksin Shrine also has a specific historical connection: it was first established in 1934 within Wat Lum Mahachai Chumphon. In Suan Sri Mueang, the Ho Phra Phuttha Angkhiros hall houses the Buddha image Phra Phuttha Angkhiros. These sites offer different points of interest, from the age of a temple and a revered image to the history of a shrine.

City History and Preserved Houses

The Rayong City Museum on Yomjinda Road is dedicated to Rayong’s history. It displays old photographs and historical objects; exhibits include household items and black-and-white photographs of Rayong in the past. The museum, also known as Ban Satyudom, is located in a wooden house more than 90 years old. Yomjinda Road, in Rayong’s historic district, also preserves old houses. Together, the collections and historic buildings offer different ways to explore the city’s history.

Coast, Park and Nature Trails

Mae Ramphueng Beach is approximately 12 kilometres long. Activities on offer include swimming, water sports, kayaking and snorkelling; operators and conditions may vary. At Khao Laem Ya in Khao Laem Ya–Mu Ko Samet National Park, a nature trail follows a bridge by the sea. From there, visitors can enjoy views of savannah-like grasslands. The national park office is in Phe, right on Mae Ramphueng Beach. Check trail conditions before setting out.

The Phra Chedi Klang Nam area offers a different natural highlight: a nature trail runs through a 500-rai urban mangrove area whose conservation is being promoted. At Suan Son Beach in Klaeng Subdistrict, a road runs along the coast, lined with shady pine trees. The mangrove landscape, nature trail and coastal road offer different ways to experience the district’s scenery.

Public Green Spaces and Marine Life

Suan Sri Mueang is a 70-rai public park with exercise stations for older visitors. Its facilities also include a children’s playground and a concrete sports court where several sports can be played. Rayong Aquarium adds live marine animals, including attractive and rare species, to the range of attractions.

When planning your trip, you can start by choosing between religious history, city history, the coast and nature. If you visit the nature trails, it is advisable to check current trail conditions.
