The museums and cultural institutions in Tambon Khlong Ha offer different points of interest for planning your trip. If you are looking for a hotel in Khlong Ha, it helps to first distinguish between a location with several museums and individual institutions with their own cultural, historical or collection-related focuses. This will help you decide on the thematic focus of your stay.

Science at the National Science Museum Thailand

The National Science Museum Thailand location in Khlong Ha comprises four museums: the Science Museum, the Natural History Museum, the Information Technology Museum and the Rama 9 Museum. Scientific exhibits are presented in a cube-shaped building. Natural history and information technology are already evident in the names of two museums; the other two museums are also independent institutions at the same location. This means that several thematic names sit alongside the scientific focus of the exhibitions within the complex. The cube shape also gives the location a distinctive architectural feature.

Art and cultural recognition

The National Artist Hall of Fame in Tambon Khlong Ha offers a different cultural focus. It was established in 1996 and officially opened on 17 May 2010. It was created to honor King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s artistic and cultural achievements as the “Supreme Artist.” While scientific exhibitions are the focus at the National Science Museum Thailand, this institution honors artistic and cultural achievements. The two institutions therefore have different thematic focuses.

The National Archives of Thailand Commemorative Building

The National Archives of Thailand Commemorative Building is also in Tambon Khlong Ha. Four sections of the building are connected by covered walkways; the complex also includes a multipurpose plaza. Its total area is 20,000 square meters. Two sections house permanent exhibitions on royal duties and development projects. The area stated refers to the entire complex, not just the two sections with permanent exhibitions. In terms of content, the focus here is on two clearly defined themes: royal duties and development projects.

Ethnological collection and visit planning

The Golden Jubilee National Museum in Tambon Khlong Ha is an ethnological museum with an open storage collection of more than 10,000 objects. These include ceramics, textiles, weapons and agricultural implements. The collection offers a different focus from scientific exhibitions or permanent exhibitions on royal duties and development projects. In 2005, group visits were arranged by contacting the museum in advance; opening hours at the time were listed as Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Check the current visiting arrangements directly with the museum before your visit.

Comparing the different focuses

There are different ways to choose a theme: the National Science Museum Thailand brings together four museums and scientific exhibitions; the Golden Jubilee National Museum focuses on an ethnological collection of more than 10,000 objects; and the National Archives of Thailand Commemorative Building houses two permanent exhibitions on royal duties and development projects. The National Artist Hall of Fame adds recognition of artistic and cultural achievements to this selection. This makes it possible to distinguish between the different focuses without treating the institutions as interchangeable museum destinations.
