Rafting, historic sites and Mayongchid gardens give Mueang Nakhon Nayok District many different sides. When planning your trip, you can choose from river experiences, cultural sites, seasonal nature and agriculture. Specific activities and attractions are spread across communities such as Sarika, Dong Lakhon, Ban Yai and Phrommani.

Rafting and nature in Sarika

Rafting is offered year-round on the Nakhon Nayok River in Sarika, using canoes and inflatable rafts. Individual routes are 2 to 7 kilometers long and each takes 1 to 2 hours. The distances and time frames give you different points of reference for fitting a river experience into your plans; operators’ conditions may vary. It is best to check the specific conditions in advance.

Wang Takrai Park in Sarika also brings together several visitor attractions. Covering up to 1,500 rai, it is home to numerous ornamental and flowering plants. The park also includes several traditional Thai houses, including Ban Than Thip, Ban Kaeng, Ban Ko and Ban Yai. A camping area is available there every year from November to February. As this is a seasonal offering, check the information before your trip.

Lan Rak Waterfall flows only during the rainy season, with the highest water levels especially from September to November. So the timing of your trip is just as important as the location when planning a visit. The Makha Bucha Memorial Park offers another point of reference: it is on Highway 3050, on the route to Sarika Waterfall.

Buddha and Ganesha representations

The Makha Bucha Memorial Park, also known as the 2,600 Years Buddhapark Suan Phutthachayanti, features a Buddha statue 9 meters wide and 13.5 meters high. It is surrounded by 1,250 smaller Buddha figures, each with a lap width of 90 centimeters. These measurements and the number of figures give an idea of the park’s design.

At Ganesha Park in Sarika, you can see Ganesha figures up to 9 meters tall. The park also includes a museum with 108 different representations of Ganesha. Ramps for wheelchair users are located around the park. When planning, you can take into account both the religious representations and this specific information about visitor accessibility.

Historic sites and architecture

The ancient city of Dong Lakhon belongs to the Dvaravati culture and is listed as a national historic monument. From Nakhon Nayok city, the route follows Highway 3076 and then a 6-kilometer turnoff. This allows you to plan a visit to this historic site as a separate activity.

Wat Yai Thakkhinaram, a historic temple, is located on the Nakhon Nayok River in Ban Yai. The ubosot was built by craftsmen from Vientiane. The gate also has distinctive architectural details: its rounded arch is inspired by East Asian art, while the guardian figures are dressed in European clothing. Taken together, the ubosot’s construction history and the gate’s design make the temple a cultural attraction in its own right within the district.

Mayongchid and agricultural gardens

In Phrommani, visitors can see and taste Thul-klao variety Mayongchid at Boon Som Agricultural Garden. The garden also grows the Pin Thong Nakhon Nayok variety. In Sarika, Sarika Agricultural Garden offers agritourism focused on the Chid Sarika variety. The offerings differ both in the varieties mentioned and in their focus: visits and tastings are part of the experience at Boon Som Garden, while the offering in Sarika is centered on Chid Sarika.

Trip planning and finding hotels

To plan your trip, you can first decide which experiences matter most to you: rafting, cultural sites, the seasonal waterfall or visits related to Mayongchid. For seasonal offerings such as the camping area, take the relevant season into account, and check the conditions with the operator for rafting. Then use your planned activities as a starting point to find a hotel for your stay.
