Amphoe Pa Mok combines temple history with religious art and regional crafts. At Wat Pa Mok Worawihan, you can encounter the Ayutthaya period and striking Buddha motifs; Ekkarat is known for its drum-making tradition. The area also features the murals of Wat Tha Sutthawat and a creative visitor experience at the Bang Sadet Court Dolls Center. These different highlights offer you a variety of ways to shape your stay around culture.

Temples, History, and Religious Art

Wat Pa Mok Worawihan is an old temple dating from the Ayutthaya period. Its mondop houses four Buddha footprints carved in stone. Longboat races are also part of the local tradition: they take place every year in November in the temple area. The exact event dates may vary, so check the schedule for your travel year in advance.

Wat Tha Sutthawat offers a different historical perspective. The temple dates from the early Ayutthaya period and is associated with a troop route across the Chao Phraya during the reign of King Naresuan. Memorials commemorate King Naresuan and King Ekathotsarot. The chapel’s murals depict themes from the Triphum teachings and the story of Mahajanaka. The principal Buddha image is named Luang Pho Yim.

The grounds of Wat Tha Sutthawat are also home to many large trees. They provide birds and other animals with habitats and feeding areas. This adds a natural dimension to the temple’s religious and artistic themes.

Wat Thanon Suttharam is part of the “10 Senses of the Faith” temple tourism route. The route also includes Luang Pho Phuttha Raphueng at Wat Thanon in Amphoe Pa Mok. Its inclusion in the route offers a thematic guide alongside the stories and motifs of the individual temples.

Drum-Making Craft and Clay Dolls

Ekkarat is a culture-focused destination and is considered Thailand’s only village for making and repairing drums. Drum-making there dates back more than 100 years. The craft preserves the production of both traditional and contemporary drums; almost every type of drum can be made. The craft therefore encompasses both a long tradition and a wide range of instruments. The Wai Khru drum-making tradition is regarded as cultural heritage and gives the craft an additional cultural context.

At the Bang Sadet Court Dolls Center, you can see an exhibition, paint clay doll-shaped magnets, and hear stories about the history and local pride of Bang Sadet’s residents. This combines looking and hands-on creativity with stories about the community. Check the current program details before your visit.

Planning Your Visit

Wat Pa Mok Worawihan is accessible via the Ayutthaya–Pa Mok–Ang Thong road. A boat trip from Wat Phinit Thammasan is another option if you would like to enjoy the river scenery. Check road conditions and the current availability of boat trips in advance. When planning your stay, you can choose which themes to prioritize: temple history and murals, drum-making craft, or an activity involving clay dolls. For the longboat races, you should also check the exact date in November.
