Whaling History and Whale Watching

Opened in 2015, Jangsaengpo Whale Culture Village recreates the setting of an old whaling village with 22 buildings. Its areas include Whale Plaza, Jangsaengpo Old Village, the Prehistoric Whale Experience Garden, a water plant garden and a sculpture park. The village setting is complemented by hands-on experiences: visitors can try on old school uniforms, and black-and-white photography and dalgona-making are also offered. The reconstructed village setting and specific activities sit side by side.

The Jangsaengpo Whale Watching Cruise departs from Jangsaengpo in Ulsan and offers whale-watching trips and coastal tours. Passengers can watch whales swimming off the coast of Jangsaengpo. Ulsan’s gray whale migration area is a well-known place to spot large gray whales; they usually appear in winter. The cruise and the gray whale area offer different points of reference: on the cruise, you can choose between whale watching and a coastal tour, while the gray whales’ usual winter presence provides a seasonal guide.
