Kyzylzhar District offers several distinct starting points for a trip: the archaeological settlement of Ak-Iriy, regional cultural groups, sports facilities, and named accommodations. You can first decide which topics interest you, then compare places to stay in the District. Some cultural and sports information relates specifically to 2024; check current performance schedules and availability before making concrete plans.

Ak-Iriy: Archaeology and History

Ak-Iriy lies near the village of Dolmatova, at the intersection of the Ishim Plain and the West Siberian Lowland. Tourist routes lead to the historic settlement; check the current route before setting out. The settlement includes cultural heritage sites considered historically and scientifically valuable. Its fortifications include defensive ditches, ramparts, and other structures. Dwellings, blacksmith workshops, and remains of pottery production have been identified within the fortified area.

Ak-Iriy is dated to the 5th century BCE and the Saka period. Finds support the hypothesis that Saka tribes inhabited the area and had deep roots in older local cultures. The interpretation of the finds remains a hypothesis. Fortifications, traces of dwellings, and evidence of blacksmithing and pottery production offer different perspectives on the settlement’s history.

Cultural Groups and Activities

As of 2024, the District had eight creative groups officially awarded the title “People’s.” These include the Kazakh choir Beskol Nury, a folk song ensemble in Novonikolskoye, and dance groups. In 2024, the District also had 170 club formations and 141 activity groups, including groups for children and adults. If you would like to attend a performance, ask about dates during your visit; programs and opportunities to participate may change.

The cultural activities and Ak-Iriy offer different points of focus: one features organized music and dance groups, while the other centers on archaeological findings and a historical interpretation explicitly presented as a hypothesis. This lets you explore the District’s cultural side through both current group activities and traces of early settlement, without treating the two as equivalent.

Serebryany Bor and Place Names

The Sosnovy Bor recreation base lies on the banks of the Ishim River on Voroniy Island. The Planeta tourist base is also on Voroniy Island. These locations differ from the named accommodations in the District’s villages: Abakshino is in Vagolino, Berezovaya Roshcha is in Solnechnoye, and the Sportlandia tourist center is in Michurino. The Pestroe Park Hotel is a recreation base on Lake Pestroe. Check current operations and booking options before making a reservation; for Sportlandia, also ask which services are currently offered.

Sports Facilities in the District

For 2024, the District had three sports complexes, one swimming pool, three tennis courts, and 26 hockey rinks on record. Two sports complexes are in Beskol; a private sports complex is in Novonikolskoye. One of the hockey rinks there is covered. Small-sided football pitches with artificial turf were recorded in 2024 in Asanovo, Bogolyubovo, Penkovo, Vinogradovka, and Podgornoye. Ask about local use in advance; access to hockey rinks may vary by season.

If you are specifically looking for a hotel, check the accommodation type, booking method, and services in the individual listing. The named recreation and tourist bases, the tourist center, and the guesthouse can each be found under their own names.
