For a stay in Kokshetau, local highlights can be grouped into waterfront spaces, city history and culture. On Lake Kopa, the Zhağalau waterfront promenade shapes the public spaces, while museums explore the history of the city and region in different ways. If you are looking for a hotel, these highlights offer a helpful point of reference for planning your trip.

Waterfront promenade and parks on Lake Kopa

The 6.3 km-long Zhağalau stretches along the shore of Lake Kopa as a waterfront promenade. The central section includes a waterside promenade, a cycling path, shelters, benches and recreation areas. The public waterfront therefore offers both spaces for activity and places to relax.

The sections have different focal points: the eastern section has a concrete pump track, as well as playgrounds and sports areas. The western section includes an amphitheater, a stage and a café area. Viewed by section, the waterfront promenade offers sports-oriented spaces in some areas and stage- and café-related amenities in others.

Kök Shalğın Park opened in 2025; at the opening, its length was given as 1.5 km. The route extends from the Eternal Flame memorial complex to the shore of Lake Kopa. The project plans described in 2025 are designed to create a connection to the Zhağalau waterfront promenade and Lake Kopa. The landscaping covers about 7.5 hectares and may continue to develop.
