Summer and winter experiences

The Zao Ropeway connects three stations in Zao Onsen in Yamagata City: Zao Sanroku Station, Juhyo Kogen Station and Jizo Summit Station. The season is therefore a useful starting point when deciding on activities: the options described differ considerably between summer and winter.

The Yonezawa Uesugi Festival takes place every year from April 29 to May 3; warrior processions and portable shrines parade through Yonezawa. The dates should be confirmed officially. Aquarium and park in Yamagata

Kamo Aquarium displays more than 50 species of jellyfish. This achievement was recognized by Guinness World Records in 2012. The aquarium thus combines its jellyfish exhibition and regional fish species with live shows.
