You can explore Yamato during a stay by focusing on the area around the station and its cultural and event-related attractions. The Odakyu Enoshima Line and the Sotetsu Main Line meet at Yamato Station. Sirius, a cultural center on the east side of the station, as well as a promenade and event venues in the station area, offer other specific points of reference. If you’re looking for hotels in Yamato, you could first consider whether culture, a market, or a festival is the reason for your trip.

Station, Promenade, and Sirius

When the Sotetsu Main Line was moved underground, a promenade was created on the surface above in the station area. The railway connection and the urban space above it are therefore distinct aspects of the station surroundings: the lines meet at the station, while the promenade was created there.

Sirius is a cultural center on the east side of Yamato Station. Its location places this cultural venue within the station area. Together with the promenade, it offers two distinct points of reference: a named cultural center and a promenade in the station area. If culture is a focus of your stay, you can include Sirius as a specific point of reference in your travel plans.

Events and Their Dates

Kanagawa Yamato Awa Odori takes place every year on the fourth Saturday and Sunday in July in the shopping streets around Yamato Station. The Nishiguchi Furin Festival includes stage performances and a flea market. The festival also features the sale of wind chimes and workshops on painting them. It thus combines performances and a market with a hands-on activity centered on wind chimes.

There are also recurring event dates on the promenades at the station. The Kanagawa Yamato Antique Market takes place on the third Saturday of each month on the east-west promenade at Yamato Station. Osanpo Mart takes place every Wednesday on the eastern promenade at Yamato Station. The two events differ both in their frequency—monthly versus weekly—and in the promenade specified for each.

Choose Your Travel Dates Based on the Occasion

The dates offer different points of reference for planning: Awa Odori takes place over two consecutive days in July, the Antique Market on the third Saturday of the month, and Osanpo Mart every Wednesday. If you’d like to plan your stay around one of these dates, you can first consider which event schedule works for you, then set your travel dates.

An annual festival, a monthly market day, and a weekly event offer different time frames to plan around. Once your travel dates are set, you can look for hotels in Yamato for your stay. This way, you can start your search with what’s actually bringing you to Yamato, rather than with a blanket assumption about the kind of stay that suits you.
