You can plan a visit to Kashima around specific themes: the history of Kashima Antlers, Kashima Jingu, parks with a variety of facilities, and a festival featuring several rituals.

Football history and interactive experiences

The Kashima Soccer Museum at the stadium focuses on the history of Kashima Antlers. The museum therefore offers a historical perspective. The Entertainment Lab at Kashima Soccer Stadium offers a different way to engage with the subject: visitors can play quiz games and rhythm games to learn more about Kashima Antlers. Both attractions share the same theme but differ in format. If you plan to visit the Lab, check current visitor access in advance; availability may change.

Facilities at Ono Shiosai Hamanasu Park

The tower complex at Ono Shiosai Hamanasu Park includes a planetarium, a local history museum and a gallery corner. When planning your visit, you can choose between different interests: the planetarium, local history topics or the gallery corner. The same park also has a 154-metre-long Jumbo Slide. This means the tower complex facilities and a specific park attraction are side by side—two different ways to plan your visit.

Kashima Jingu and trails through the landscape

From JR Kashima-Jingu Station, Kashima Jingu is a ten-minute walk or a three-minute taxi ride. Travel time therefore depends on your chosen mode of transport. If you use this information to plan your journey, check the route before your visit, as routing conditions may change.

The Kokoshika Mini Museum is located along the approach to Kashima Jingu. It displays information about Kashima Jingu and local history materials from Kashima City. Two themes come together here: the shrine and materials on the city’s local history.

Kashima Kami no Michi winds through the landscape of Kashima City, with its forests, a lake and the sea surrounding Kashima Jingu. This gives the trail a different focus from the museum and park facilities: here, the landscape itself takes centre stage. If you are interested in the scenery as well as the cultural attractions, you can include Kashima Kami no Michi as a separate part of your trip planning.

Historic site with a view

Kashima Castle Park was created on the site of the main bailey of Kashima Castle. From there, you can see Lake Kitaura and Jingu Bridge. The site thus combines a specific historical connection with two named viewpoints. This distinguishes the park both from the facilities at Ono Shiosai Hamanasu Park and from Kashima Kami no Michi, which leads through the landscape.

Rituals at the Saito Festival

Kashima’s Saito Festival features the spectacular Saitobayashi in the afternoon, a morning departure ritual and an evening spring ritual. The morning ritual is performed exclusively by district representatives and other officials. During the evening ritual, the district responsible for the following year is determined. The festival’s events therefore differ in timing and purpose. If you include the Saito Festival in your travel plans, check the dates in advance.

Choose a travel focus when looking for hotels

If the Entertainment Lab is important to you, check current visitor access; if you are travelling for the Saito Festival, check the dates.
