When planning a trip to Amnun, you can distinguish local offerings from destinations in the surrounding area and the wider Northern District destination. The grounds of RZR HaTzafon in Moshav Amnon have a food truck area; RZR HaTzafon is based there and offers self-guided off-road tours. Nearby beach and lakeside destinations are in the surrounding area; archaeological sites are in the wider Northern District destination.

Offerings in Moshav Amnon

The grounds of RZR HaTzafon in Moshav Amnon have a kosher food truck area. The dairy coffee truck NOGAYA serves coffee, pastries and sandwiches. A meat hamburger truck adds hamburgers, fries and other dishes to the offering. As visitor offerings may change, check with the operator for the current offering before your visit.

RZR HaTzafon also offers self-guided off-road tours in all-terrain vehicles and is based in Moshav Amnon. If you would like to include this activity in your travel plans, confirm current availability with the operator in advance.

Beaches, Lakeshores and Trails Nearby

Nearby Amnon Beach is also popular with campers. Swimming at Amnon Bay Beach is subject to specific conditions: it is permitted only during the bathing season, only in the designated area, and between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Check the latest information from the beach authorities before your visit, as the season and hours may change. A nearby stretch of lakeshore in the national park offers a different natural feature, where flora and fauna are preserved in their natural state.

A longer regional route is the Israel National Trail around the Sea of Galilee, “Shvil Sovev Kinneret,” which is about 65 kilometers long. Some sections are closed to the public. Check the current trail conditions before making plans, as closures may change. The total length and information about closed sections refer to the route in the region, not to a single section near Amnun.

Archaeological Destinations in the Northern District

The wider Northern District destination includes two major archaeological sites: Tel Hazor and Tel Megiddo. Tel Hazor is a biblical tell with significant remains of a city associated with the Bible. The visit focuses on the upper city. Architectural features include Solomon’s Gate, a six-chambered gate with two towers dating to the 10th century BCE. The Late Bronze Age palace is described as the most elaborate in Israel and one of the most significant in the Levant. The underground water collection system is also remarkable: it is considered an ingenious engineering achievement for storing water, adapted to the geographic conditions. An excavated shaft at Tel Hazor is 45 meters deep.

Tel Megiddo is one of three tells that preserve significant remains of cities associated with the Bible and are closely linked to events in the Bible. One particular focus is the temple complex from the Early Bronze Age. It is exceptional for the number of its temples, the continuity of cult activity and the documented ritual activities. Tel Megiddo’s orthogonal city plan dates to the Iron Age and has few parallels in the Levant. Thus, Tel Hazor focuses, among other things, on its gate architecture and water engineering, while Tel Megiddo offers different archaeological themes, including its temple complex and city plan.

Tel Hazor National Park can be reached from the north and south via Route 90 in the direction of Ayelet Hashahar. Check your navigation before setting out.
