If you are looking for a hotel in Mawal and are interested in history, you can consider Chandravati as a separate place to visit. The state archaeology department gives Chandravati’s location as approximately three kilometres north of Mawal and seven kilometres south of Abu Road. This geographically connects the places, but does not make the historic site part of any particular hotel.

Chandravati and the Parmaras

Chandravati was the capital of the Abu branch of the Parmaras. The official account refers to numerous temples with Hindu and Jain associations. It also gives the local name Chandroti. Here, the different names refer to the historical place described, not to two additional attractions.

The responsible department lists the area as a protected archaeological site. A specific cultural and historical subject is therefore at the heart of a visit. Which areas can actually be visited must be clarified for your plans; protected status does not imply either a daily guided tour or that all temple interiors are open.

Understanding distances and their reference points

The three kilometres refers to Chandravati’s location north of Mawal. The seven kilometres describes its location south of Abu Road. These two figures help with spatial orientation, but are not distances from every hotel to a particular entrance or meeting point.

The account also mentions the main road between Gujarat and Rajasthan and places the present-day small village south of Abu Road station on the Ahmedabad–Delhi connection. This is not a current timetable. If you plan to travel by train, you will need a suitable connection and separately confirmed onward transport to your hotel or destination.

River landscape at the historic site

Chandravati lies on the left bank of the Banas, some distance from its confluence with the smaller Sivarani. The department describes the Sivarani as having a smaller catchment area and flowing through rocky terrain. The relatively shallow rivers and valleys cut into the rock provide a tangible landscape setting for the history of the place.

This landscape setting should be distinguished from an advertised leisure activity. A riverside location does not confirm the presence of a swimming spot, public riverbank path or guided boat trip. If you would like to spend time by the river in addition to your historical visit, choose an access point that is actually permitted rather than inferring one from a general description of the place.

Plan your hotel choice and visit together

First decide which part of Chandravati you would like to explore and where a confirmed visit begins. You can then compare the exact hotel address in Mawal with your travel plans. The name of a historical destination alone does not prove that it is a short walk from your accommodation.

Meals, transfers and archaeological guides are services offered by individual properties. They are part of your stay only if explicitly confirmed. This way, your hotel search combines your cultural interests with a well-founded location decision, without turning historic temples into modern hotel complexes or implying guaranteed visitor services.
