Khetri Mahal in Khetri was built in 1770 and has neither windows nor doors. This striking detail offers a glimpse of the different architectural styles found at historic sites in Jhunjhunu district.

Fort and Palace Architecture

Dundlod Fort combines Rajput and Mughal art and architecture. It was built in 1750 by Keshari Singh, son of the Rajput ruler Sardul Singh. Alsisar Mahal is also an example of Rajput architecture; its frescoes depict historical events. When choosing sites for their architecture, the distinction is clear: Dundlod highlights the combination of two artistic and architectural traditions, while Alsisar showcases Rajput architecture and historical imagery. Khetri Mahal adds its windowless, doorless appearance to these examples.

Temples, Dargah and Paintings

In Jhunjhunu district, Rani Sati Mandir has a history spanning more than 400 years and is known for its remarkable paintings. Bhadra Amawasya and Mangsir Badi Navmi are celebrated every year at Shree Ranisatiji Mandir. If these festivals are important to your travel plans, check the exact dates before your trip. Raghunathji-Bhatiyaniji Temple is located in Khetri, Jhunjhunu. At the Dargah of Kamaruddin Shah, a mosque and a madrasa are arranged around a courtyard; some of the original wall paintings have been preserved. Architecture, drawings and evergreen gardens also make Shri Panchdev Temple an appealing destination for visitors.

Nawalgarh and Mandawa

Nawalgarh's Heritage Walk is lined with historic heritage sites. Nawalgarh is also home to the Dr. Ramnath A. Poddar Museum. Mandawa offers a different perspective on history: the town was an important hub on an ancient trade route between the Middle East and China. So, Nawalgarh's Heritage Walk and museum take centre stage, while Mandawa is also associated with its trading history.
