Hotels in Bīlha: Baba Buddha Ji and Barnala
Accommodation in Bihla
According to the historical Gazetteer description, Bīlha is approximately 13 kilometres northeast of Barnala in Punjab. The village has its own cultural connection to Baba Buddha Ji. If you would like to combine a visit with an overnight stay, distinguish Bīhla’s religious heritage from the separate sights in the city of Barnala.
Baba Buddha Ji and Gurdwara Jandsar
Gurdwara Jandsar is located in Bīhla and is also known as Baba Buddha Ji Guru Ghar. The traditional connection to Baba Buddha Ji goes beyond the name of the gurdwara: a Punjabi account attributes to the residents the belief that they are descended from him. This is a local religious tradition, not a genealogical claim substantiated here.
The Gazetteer describes Baba Buddha as a Sikh saint who performed the Gurgaddi ceremony for the first six Sikh Gurus. This religious significance explains the historical festival’s commemorative connection. It should not be confused with a current event or a fixed tourist sightseeing programme.
A historical festival is not confirmation of a current date
A large annual festival in memory of Baba Buddha Ji is recorded for Bīhla, held from 27 to 29 November. However, the historical description does not confirm that it will take place in your travel year. If you plan to travel specifically for this festival, first obtain current confirmation locally, and only then arrange firm overnight bookings around it.
The mere mention of the gurdwara also does not establish public visiting hours or access to its interior. Confirm visiting arrangements and the rules of the premises directly on site. A historical festival date and the name of a religious institution are different kinds of information; neither replaces a specific arrangement for your visit.
Barnala adds its own cultural sites to your stay
In the city of Barnala, Dera Baba Gandha Singh is located on Bajakhana Road. This historic gurdwara preserves the chula, the oven in which food for the langar was cooked. It is therefore also known as Baba Chula Sahib. This preserved object offers a specific connection to cultural history; it does not mean that food will be served during your visit.
Geeta Bhawan, by contrast, is a Radha-Krishna temple in Barnala, administered by the Om Sat Sanatan Geeta Bhawan Trust. If you are considering visiting both religious sites, take their different traditions into account and check the actual visiting arrangements for each separately. Both are in Barnala and are not establishments in the village of Bīhla.
Quilla Mahal is another point of interest in Barnala for those interested in history. The former fort no longer exists. The area’s name remains, and the official tourism description mentions numerous old buildings there. So do not plan on visiting a preserved fort; distinguish the area from the vanished fort.
Choose hotels based on their actual location
When searching for hotels in Bīlha, compare each property’s exact address with your planned visits in the village and in Barnala. The historical distance given is not a confirmed driving distance from every accommodation. Check your preferred dates, required amenities, and travel arrangements in the specific listing. A temple visit, festival attendance, or transfer is not automatically included with an overnight stay.
