Guang'an can be explored through two themes: historic cultural sites and the urban landscape along the Xixi River. The Guang'an Museum and Guang'an Wenbo Park add museum exhibits and landscaped cultural views to these perspectives. If you are looking for a hotel for your stay in Guang'an, first consider whether you want to focus primarily on cultural history, museum themes or riverside scenery. These different focal points offer concrete starting points for planning your trip.

Cultural Sites and Historic Buildings

Guang'an Wenbo Park covers 81.07 mu and is located beside the Guang'an Museum on the western slope of the Xixi River. The design described in 2024 includes ten cultural scenes, among them “平安广安”, “曲水流觞”, “风云际会”, “风雨廊桥” and “悬壁石铭”. Other scenes feature round sculptures, inscriptions, copperplate paintings and rock paintings. As a themed park, Wenbo Park draws on historical and cultural materials from Guang'an as well as architectural and landscape forms from southern Chinese gardens. In this way, local cultural themes and garden forms come together in a landscaped setting. The design described may continue to evolve in detail.

The White Pagoda of Guang'an was built during the Southern Song period, is more than 800 years old and belongs to the seventh group of China's National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units. Xingguo Temple represents another aspect of the city's history: it is the only surviving historic Buddhist building in the urban area of Guang'an. For the pagoda, its construction period, age and national designation are defining features; for the temple, it is its unique status as a surviving historic Buddhist building in the urban area.

Museum and Digital Exhibition

The Guang'an Museum is Guang'an's first comprehensive municipal museum. It brings together collections, acquisitions, education, exhibitions and research. It thus combines several aspects of museum work: collecting and acquiring objects, as well as interpreting them and engaging with them academically. For planning your itinerary, the museum therefore offers a different way to experience the city than its historic buildings or landscaped riverside.

A digital exhibition presented in 2024 is titled “宋韵广安——走进安丙生活的时代”. Using digital multimedia and dynamic images, it illustrates life during the Song period through clothing, food, housing and transport. The themes move from everyday aspects of life to a historical era, adding a digital portrayal to Guang'an's architectural heritage. As the exhibition's availability may change, check before your visit whether it will be on during your travel dates.

The Xixi River and the Urban Landscape

The Xixi River forms a green corridor through the central urban area of Guang'an and is an important place for recreation and leisure for local residents. The river's Canyon Park section features the landscape nodes “长影叠瀑”, “亲水峡谷” and “望江忆故”. The section showcases both the river's natural ecology and its cultural character. The landscape theme thus extends from the green corridor in the central urban area to a more specifically described riverside landscape with named nodes. For travelers, the Xixi River offers a different perspective on Guang'an from the history of the pagoda and temple.

The city's nighttime lighting is another distinctive aspect of its urban environment. It has been expanded in stages across the central urban area over several years. Siyuan Square and Siyuan Avenue form a straight axis leading to Kuige Peninsula on the opposite side. This axis adds an urban, nighttime perspective to the picture of Guang'an, alongside its historic buildings and riverside landscape.

When planning your trip, you can distinguish between these themes according to the kind of city experience that interests you: historic buildings, museum exhibits or the design of the Xixi River and urban spaces. This can help you connect your search for a hotel in Guang'an with the focus of your stay.
