When visiting Bijie, it is worth considering the city area and scenic destinations in the surrounding area separately. Bijie National Forest Park, with its Gonglongping main area, and the Jieming San Sheng Revolutionary Site are two distinct points of reference for planning your trip. The distance figures refer to different urban areas, so the numbers are not directly comparable without further context.

The National Forest Park and Its Location

The Gonglongping main area lies southwest of Bijie and 41 kilometers from the urban area. This direction and distance locate this particular part of the National Forest Park; they do not apply generally to all places in the surrounding area. The park combines karst landscapes with forest scenery. The combination of these two landscape types is central here, not just the forest. For planning your trip, it is a distinct nature-focused destination alongside the urban area. The distance helps you locate the site in relation to the city; karst and forest scenery describe the features that shape the park's landscape.

Trails and Facilities in the Forest Park

An older official description lists a 2,000-meter-long tourist walking trail in the park; check this infrastructure information before your trip. An official description from 2016 records that, at the time, a 3,000-meter-long tourist road, a 100-square-meter viewing platform, a 60,000-square-meter visitor center and a forest activity hall had also been built. If you plan to rely on these facilities, check their current status before your trip. The length figures differ by one kilometer: the tourist road is described as 3,000 meters long, and the walking trail as 2,000 meters long. The areas also differ significantly: 100 square meters for the viewing platform and 60,000 square meters for the visitor center.

Jieming San Sheng: A Different Landscape Focus

The Jieming San Sheng Revolutionary Site is located at the junction of Guizhou, Yunnan and Sichuan. Its surroundings are characterized by densely vegetated mountains, deep river valleys and steep cliffs. Its location at the junction of the three provinces provides a regional reference point, while the mountains, valleys and cliffs characterize the landscape around the site. The site is 57 kilometers from the urban area of Qixingguan. This is not the same point of reference as for the Gonglongping main area, whose 41-kilometer distance is measured from the urban area of Bijie. So when comparing the two distances, keep the named urban areas distinct: the figures do not describe distances from the same starting point.

The difference between the two landscape destinations can be stated clearly: the forest park brings together karst landscapes and forest scenery, while Jieming San Sheng is characterized by densely vegetated mountains, deep river valleys and steep cliffs. This lets you prioritize nature themes according to your interests and consider the two places as different aspects of a trip to Bijie.
