Graskop itself has tourist boutiques; the Graskop Gorge and other natural attractions are nearby. If you’re looking for a hotel in Graskop, consider which focus best suits your trip: art and shopping in town, or the landscape of gorges, forests, rocks and waterfalls. Visitor conditions also vary in specific ways—for example, between the wheelchair-accessible suspension bridge at the Graskop Gorge and the steep, non-wheelchair-accessible path to the platform above Mac Mac Falls. These differences can help you plan your trip around your interests.

Gorge and Forest Nearby

The Graskop Gorge lies just outside Graskop. The 52-metre-long suspension bridge connects the north and south sides of the gorge and is wheelchair accessible. The Cliff Walk follows a narrow path along the steep slope above the forest, leads to the bridge and includes a zipline ride.

The Graskop Gorge Zipline includes two flights: the first crosses a 120-metre-long zipline, and the second returns across the gorge. Thus, both the direction of the first flight and the return across the gorge are part of the described sequence.

The Viewing Lift descends 51 metres into the Afromontane forest. From there, you can access the Next-Level Walk, which connects to the Forest Trail below. Check the operator’s current visitor arrangements before your trip.

Rock Formations and Viewpoints

Pinnacle Rock is 6 km north of Graskop on the R534, a scenic loop off the R532. The freestanding, tower-like quartzite rock rises 30 metres above dense indigenous forest. The first of the Ngwaritsane stream’s eight small waterfalls is right beside it.

Wonder View is about 2 km north of God’s Window, at an elevation of 1,730 metres. The viewpoint is considered the highest in the area and is right beside the road, so no walking trail is required. While the rock formation and forest shape the impression at Pinnacle Rock, Wonder View is distinguished primarily by its elevation and direct roadside location. These details give you two different reference points for the landscape around Graskop.

Walking Trails and Waterfalls

The 3 km Secretary Bird Hiking Trail passes through open grassland with little shade as well as forest. Its length and the combination of these landscape types provide concrete points of reference if you want to compare natural attractions by their terrain.

Mac Mac Falls is 20 km from Graskop on the R532 towards Sabie. A steep cement path leads to the viewing platform above the falls and is not wheelchair accessible. Check current trail conditions before your visit.

Art and Shopping in Graskop

The tourist boutiques in Graskop offer gifts, locally made curios, contemporary, modern and classical art, as well as African silk and leather goods. The range brings together art and a variety of merchandise in one place. Individual shops and their selections may change. For travellers who want to include local boutiques in their plans alongside natural attractions, these shops offer a distinct focus in town.
