Fehendhoo: Beaches, House Reef and Excursions
Accommodation in Fehendhoo
Fehendhoo is an island of white-sand beaches, coves, and dense vegetation: it is covered in jungle and surrounded by coves. Activities for visitors include beach walks, direct access to the house reef, and water excursions. You can plan your stay around the activities that interest you on the island and in the surrounding area.
Beaches and the Island Landscape
The white-sand beaches are ideal for leisurely walks; several beach areas are specially maintained for tourists. Fehendhoo has two bikini beaches: one near the village and one at the island’s westernmost end. The westernmost beach is considered a place to watch the sunset. The two beach areas therefore differ in their locations. Beach conditions can vary by season; confirm the designations and access locally.
House Reef, Diving and Water Sports
Fehendhoo’s house reef is directly accessible from shore. Strong currents can occur near shore and at the ends of the island. Check local conditions before entering the water.
Aqua Blue Fehendhoo is listed as a PADI dive resort under identification number S-26436. Confirm the operator’s status before booking. Atoll Aqua Blue is a diving and water sports center on Fehendhoo; activities include scuba diving and kayaking. Check the availability of water sports in advance.
Fishing Trips and Tours
Two different times of day are mentioned for fishing trips: morning trolling for wahoo and stationary reef fishing at sunset. The Turtle, Dolphin and Manta Safari is also offered as a guided excursion. A full-day tour from Fehendhoo combines snorkeling on reefs, time on a sandbank, and visits to nearby inhabited islands. A guided snorkeling tour is also available.
Visits to the nearby islands of Fulhadoo or Goidhoo are offered from Fehendhoo. Fehendhoo Caves is a dive site reachable from the island, with underwater tunnels; Madivaru Corner is also among the dive sites accessible from Fehendhoo. An excursion to Innafushi visits an uninhabited island with a lagoon where turtles are often seen. Another excursion on offer goes to the Bodafushi sandbank.
A small fish farm on Fehendhoo breeds fish for aquariums and is described as a visitor attraction. If you plan a visit, ask in advance whether access is possible.
